About 2degrees:

In 2009 2degrees was born and the Fight for Fair began when we switched on our mobile network, breaking up a duopoly. Charges for calling and texts halved overnight, a game-changer for all Kiwis and this became known as the “2degrees effect” across other industries in New Zealand.

Today we’re a growing team of challengers who want to make a difference. 2 million Kiwis use our services, powered by a team of 1700 employees, with 58 retail stores right across the country.

Right now, we're looking for degreed-up talent like you to join us. If you want to make a genuine impact for Kiwis and do something a bit different, then jump aboard and join us in our Fight for Fair!

2degrees graduate programme:

Because every team at 2degrees is different, our 18-month rotational programme will allow you to work across different subset teams to get a solid foundation in your area of specialisation.

As a 2degrees graduate, you'll enjoy plenty of support and development opportunities including formal training, coaching, mentoring and a good dose of on-the-job learning. Our offer to you will be permanent, giving you the security you need now and into the future.

We have four areas we are recruiting into for our 2025 programme:

  • Data Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Core Network Engineering
  • Customer Design

We focus on developing T-shaped Grads who build transferable skills across foundational experience, core capability development, project management, coaching and mentoring. You'll also build deep technical skill through the 3 rotations.

And because everyone needs a friend, we will pair you up with a buddy. This will likely be a previous graduate - someone you can chat to about the new transition and all things 2degrees.

You'll also have your very own accredited coach for the first 12 months of the programme, who will support your development, followed by a mentor in your field for the final 6 months of the programme. Exposure is key so we work hard to provide you with the opportunity to work on cross-functional projects, building relationships across the business.

And it's not just you learning from us... we want to learn from you too!

Some of our benefits:

  • Learn about ways you can enhance your lifestyle with our amazing wellness and flexible working programmes
  • Get leading edge development and support with our development programme, starting with the skills you need in a corporate environment, ramping up to how you can bring out your best self and closing out with strategic and future thinking topics.
  • Stop paying for phone bills, medical insurance and fruit – we’ve got you covered!
  • Spend time during work giving back through our community volunteer programme “FairDays”

Recruitment Process

  • Applications open, apply between 2nd and 30th April 2024 with your CV, cover letter and academic transcript.
  • We'll get in contact! Once applications close, you'll receive an email from us letting you know if you've made it to the next round.
  • Aptitude is next, basically we think your application looks great and we'd love to see what you've got. You'll be sent a couple of short cognitive assessments to complete.
  • Video screening follows after that, we'd love to get to know you better.
  • Personality/competency testing. Let's dig deeper! This will help us to understand more about you.
  • Come meet us and some of the other candidates at 2degrees HQ. This will be a day event including an introduction to 2degrees, an interview, and various activities.
  • Woohoo, you did it. You have been offered one of the graduate roles. You will be sent a contract and policies to read over, sign and return. Then you get to join our amazing team in the fight for fair to make NZ a better place to live!

What Graduates Say About Them
  • The culture and the people. Everyone at 2degrees wants to see you grow and succeed and help you along the journey.
  • I love having flexibility in what I work on and where I work.
  • There are endless training, workshop, and personal development opportunities!
  • The office is super close to the bus stops, and we have amazing end of trip facilities, so I bike into office every day.
  • There are lots of career progression opportunities! New roles are often available.
  • Because 2degrees is a software driven telco, it is a very fast-moving company, and you can feel left behind if you don't try to keep up.
  • Telecommunications being quite a niche industry, there can be a lot to get your head around a lot of the time.
  • As we grow, it makes it difficult to maintain our roots as a challenger brand.
  • The company moves very fast, and there can be a struggle to keep up with changes, which can create a sense of pressure and urgency.
  • I thought the starting salary was a bit low compared to my fellow engineering graduates.
